Install OTA updates for OPT

Well recently i decide to buy a OnePlus2 instead of waiting for Nexus5X. OnePlus2 was way better from the specs and has good community supports.

After using for some time i got the OTA OxygenOS 2.1 update which i download and try to install through the software upgrade method which always give a failure message in recovery. Well as a consumer i was disappointed but as a Software Developer well its kind of expected. Well if i didn't expecting things like this i won't be buying this phone :).

Well turning back to GOOGLE. I found a thread on OP Forum that mentioned about flashing Oxygen 2.0.2 Full image and then applying the 2.1 OTA. And that did worked. So here are the steps.

  1. Download the OnePlus2Oxygen_14_OTA_006_all_1508211811.zip from https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/oneplus-2-stock-rom-collection-updated-22-09.347627/
  2. Copy the zip file on to phone
  3. Switch of the Phone. Make sure you have more than 50% of battery left.
  4. Hold VolumDown and press Power Button to boot into recovery mode.
  5. Select Wipe data and cache
  6. Select Install from SD
  7. Select the zip file from the phone storage.
  8. After installation complete select Reboot.
That's it, Now you can check for software update and install the latest OTA for OxygenOS 2.1.
